It was also the most controversial season, with several high tier teams boycotting ETF2L in favour of ESL Season VII. The boycott emerged after the ETF2L staff introduced the "Cinnamon" unlock ruleset, which featured a limited amount of unlocks for the main combat classes (Scout, Soldier, Demoman and Heavy) and, with some exceptions, all unlocks for support classes, in contrast to the "Vanilla" ruleset (no unlocks except for some medic items) that many players demanded at that time. On top, several people were not happy with the map selection for Season 9, which featured cp_bazillion and cp_obscure but not cp_snakewater, which was winning over more and more supporters in the European scene. Top teams that took part in the boycott included Power Gaming, Team Dignitas, Epsilon eSports and YoYoTech. In the end, all but 3 teams in the Premiership Division dropped from the season. Overall, this season had the highest drop rate of all seasons (32%). The ruleset for ctf_turbine was also kind of experimental and used the built in command tf_flag_caps_per_round command. The map was played in a best of 3 format with 30 minute rounds, each with a 5 captures win limit. When the time limit was reached while both teams were tied in rounds and had an equal amount of captures, a decider round with a capture limit of 3 had to be played. Season 9 is also the first ETF2L season to use an item whitelist, which made sure banned items could not accidentally be used, and introduced the class limit of 1 for the Heavy. == Setup == === Schedule === * Signups open: March 04 , 2011 * Signups close: March 11 , 2011 * Schedule Week: March 15 - April 3, 2011 * Main Season: March 21 - May 29, 2011 (9 weeks + delays) * Catch-up Week: May 30 - June 05, 2011 * Playoffs: June 06 - June 26, 2011 === Prizes === * 1st Place: 6x SteelSeries Siberia v2 (White) * 2nd Place: 6x SteelSeries Xai * 3rd Place: SteelSeries 4H * Division 1 Winner: 6x SteelSeries 9HD The hardware prizes were donated by the main sponsor SteelSeries. === Maps === * Week 1: cp_badlands, cp_warmfront * Week 2: cp_gravelpit, cp_warmfront * Week 3: cp_gravelpit, cp_granary * Week 4: ctf_turbine_pro_rc1, cp_granary * Week 5: ctf_turbine_pro_rc1, cp_gullywash_pro * Week 6: cp_badlands, cp_gullywash_pro * Week 7: cp_bazillion_rc2, cp_gullywash_pro * Week 8: cp_bazillion_rc2, cp_badlands * Week 9: cp_granary, cp_badlands ===Unlockable Weapons=== start {{Scout Weapon List <!-- Primary --> | Scattergun =1 | Baby Face's Blaster = | Back Scatter = | Force-A-Nature = | Shortstop = | Soda Popper= <!-- Secondary --> | Pistol =1 | Bonk!
